2009 Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program

The 2009 Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program with Percy Jackson and the Olympians, is a fun and easy way for your children to earn free books. Your children can read any eight books of their own choosing, write about their favorite part of each book in the Summer Reading Journal (download and print out on Barnes and Noble website) and bring completed Reading Journal to a Barnes & Noble bookstore between May 26th & September 7th, 2009. Your child will then get to pick a free book from a list of exceptional paperback titles*.

This year they have also added a chance to win an Autographed Percy Jackson Novel!

Free Bowling For Up To 10 People

I have found another offer for some free bowling for the family.

If you join the AMF club, they will send you an e-mail with a coupon good for one free game of bowling for each member of your group up to 10 people.

This offer doesn't include shoe rental but it's still a good deal for a trip to the bowling alley.

Available at select AMF bowling centers in the USA, you will see if there is a location in you area when you get to the sign up form.

McGruff SafeGuard

Here's another one for parents and guardians of children. This is for a free service called McGruff SafeGuard that helps to monitor and protect your children when online.

"McGruff SafeGuard is a service that intelligently monitors kids' Internet activity, including: website visits, chat and instant messaging, search engine phrases, social network profiles on MySpace, Facebook and many others. The Service alerts parents to problems such as Internet predators, dangerous behavior, underage/illicit sexual activity, suicide, drug use, credit card abuse and crime."

Parents can sign up for a free account at GoMcGruff.com and then download and then install the McGruff software on each computer they want to safeguard. After the software has been installed on your child's computer, their activity is transmitted back to the McGruff website, where it will be stored for parents to review.

McGruff SafeGuard offers a free service and premium account. "McGruff SafeGuard Free stores up to 1000 messages per day for one PC in your home. McGruff SafeGuard Family provides unlimited messages per day for up to 6 PCs in your home."

McGruff SafeGuard is a partnership between the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and ParentsOnPatrol (POP).

This is a wonderful program to help protest your children while on the Internet and to provide helpful advice to parents on how to deal with certain issues.

This one is for us parents. Every now and then I come across publications and services that I believe will be helpful for parents and will post them.

Keeping Kids Safer on the Internet: Tips for Parents and Guardians is the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s newest publication addressing Internet safety.

The Internet, like a city, offers an enormous array of entertainment and educational resources but also presents some potential risks. Kids need help navigating this world."

Activities to keep your toddler amused during the summer

There are plenty of activities that you can participate with your toddler that need not break the bank! Some of the best moments you can have with your child cost nothing and this article will show you how.

1. Buy a football or a small ball. Your child will have endless hours of fun throwing or kicking the ball around outside. This activity can involve just you or anyone else in the family who wants to participate. The more the merrier and the more your child will enjoy!

2. Take your child to the local swimming pool and have a splash around. Many pools have special fun hours where your child can meet other children and use some of the water toys made available.

3. Have a walk in the park. Point out the flora and fauna and let them feel, smell and touch all the textures around. Take some of this home so you can make a picture or collage to remember what you done.

4. If your child owns a bike take them for a ride around the area. This lets them burn off all that excess energy and gets you out in the fresh air too!

5. Buy some fruit and let your child pick out what he wants and make fruit smoothies for him to enjoy. Buy fruit he may not have tried before and let him experience new tastes and textures.

6. Do some gardening and let your child become involved in planting some seeds. Over the course of the seed’s development, point out any new growth and flowers when the seeds mature. At the end of the flowering season, press the flower and let your child use this to make a nice memento.

7. Make up sandwiches and finger food and have a picnic. This could take place in your back yard, at the park or anywhere you please. Make up special treats for your child to enjoy for them to remember the special day.

8. Let your friends and their children to meet up with you in the park and take along some outdoor toys such as a bat and ball or a Frisbee. Get your child to play an active part in mixing and mingling with the others around them.

9. Buy some bagels or pizza bases and let them make their own pizza face for them to eat later on.

10. Go to the beach and take along a bucket and spade and make sand castles. Take along your own food so you don’t have to eat out. Sand in the sandwiches is all part of the experience!

Sneak Peek Site Testing for your Children

Being a member of MomSelect, a program designed by BSM Media to help companies connect moms, I get the chance to choose to participate in may different marketing programs.
