Regal Cinemas is running their Summer Movie Express for moviegoers of all ages. Through the rest of summer, participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected G or PG rated movies for only $1 on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00AM.

Free Blockbuster Movie Rental for Good Grades- K-12
Blockbuster is rewarding your hard working children for doing well in school. "Qualifying students will be eligible for one Free Blockbuster Favorites rental (non-new releases in standard format) each grading period."

A: Students with a B average or better can bring in their original report card, signed by a parent or legal guardian, to a participating BLOCKBUSTER® store and receive one free BLOCKBUSTER Favorites® movie rental. Membership is required for rental.
Q: Can multiple students from the same household participate?
A: Yes. EACH student with a B average report card is eligible for one free rental.
Q: How often can a student participate?
A: Students are eligible to participate each new grading period.
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible. Report card must be presented within 30 days of issuance.

REG Free Family Film Festival Beginning June 2009!
The Free Family Film Festival is provided by Regal theatres and provides free selected G and PG movies for kids and parents with a nine week schedule during the summer (USA only).
I had this posted on Fun 4 The Children last year for the 2008 summer and received great response from the readers of this blog, not to mention the fun times my children had as we visited their theatres three times!
Information from Regal Theatres: "When school’s out, kids around the country visit selected Regal theatres for the Free Family Film Festival. It’s a fun-filled nine weeks of movies for kids and parents. Since 1991, Regal has provided this service to the community, and best of all it’s FREE!
Selected G & PG movies start at 10AM each Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. First-come, first-served seating is limited to theatre capacity. The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer."

Inkheart
Cornelia Funke's bestselling book Inkheart is now a feature film starring the wonderful Brendan Frasier. Our family has read Inkheart many times and are big fans of it as well as the other two books in the Inkworld trilogy, Inkspell and InkDeath. We are excited to know that a movie version has been released.
Inkheart is the first book in the Inkworld trilogy and follows a 12 year old girl named Meggie and her father Mo. Mo, has the ability to read characters and other things out of books. But, this ability is a curse, for when someone comes out of a book, someone else from our world goes into the book, and this, Meggie learns, is how she lost her mother many years ago.
Mo accidentally releases Capricorn, the evil villain from the Inkheart book and the adventure begins.

Race To The Center
Race To The Center is an online game created for the release of the film Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser.
The game consists of three interactive challenges (Scavenger Hunt, Free Fall and Rock Hop) that you and your children can try to complete to make it to the Core Club. If you make it through the three challenges, you are an honorary member of the Core Club and have access to exclusive content in the core and are automatically entered to win a free trip to Iceland.
Our favorite game was the Scavenger Hunt that asked some challenging questions (I like the fact that the kids have fun while using their brains).
"The film, Journey to the Center of the Earth, is a sci-fi adventure that takes place deep beneath the earth's center. The film is totally kid-centric, but fun for parents as well (thank heaven for the movies that are both!) Journey to the Center of the Earth will be playing in 3D at RealD* locations across the U.S. on July 11th."

BookWorm Wednesday - National Amusements
BookWorm Wednesday is another fun program for your children to see a free movie during the summer with a twist. The program encourages reading during the summer months and in order to get free admission to the select films, your child must present a book report.
Here is some further information from National Amusements website:
"BOOKWORM WEDNESDAY is an annual fun and rewarding summer reading program developed to encourage young children to read during the summer months.
BOOKWORM WEDNESDAYS entitles kids to free admission to a select children's film every Wednesday during the summer months when they present a book report at participating theatres. Children under six who accompany a participant and adults who accompany a participant receive free admission to the Bookworm Wednesdays movie and do not need to submit a book report."
The book report is basically just a brief description of the book your child has read, that is filled out on a book report form (available for download at the National Amusements website).
The BookWorm Wednesday program runs from June 25 - August 13, 2008. Make sure you check to see if the state you live in is offering this program (twelve states offering the program).
While your at the National Amusements website, take a good look around as they offer a bunch of other kids and family programs.

Autograph Photo from the kids of Hairspray
Anyone have children that are fans of the kids from the 2007Hairspray movie? If so, here's a chance to get a free autographed photo from one of the stars.
