MEET ME AT THE CORNER

I've recently had the pleasure of speaking to Donna Guthrie, a teacher and children's author who has published more than twenty award-winning books for children. Donna also publishes a new, cool website for kids called MEET ME AT THE CORNER, a series of free kid-friendly video podcasts for children.

Geared to children ages 7-12, MeetMeAtTheCorner.org is a dynamic, interactive site, which encourages individual expression and participation through video submissions from children worldwide. Through these video pod casts, the site creates a community of children who learn the art of self-expression and storytelling through video. The site is free of charge.

MeetMeAtTheCorner.org currently offers more than 40 three- to four- minute episodes. Recent additions include interviews with famous artists and writers, trips to a variety of New York City historic and cultural landmarks, and introductions to unusual hobbies. New ìtripsî are added every two weeks.

Each video episode offers the viewer suggested book recommendations and extended learning activities, with the opportunity for children to submit their own complementary videos.

Free Fisher Price Little People Birthday - 03/21/09

Toys R US wants you to come celebrate the 50th birthday of Little People this Saturday, March 21, 2009, from 12 to 2 PM.

Coloring activities, storytime, playtime with Little People toys and a free Little People DVD are available while supplies last and are distributed only to participating children.

Easter Craft Project - Eggciting Eggs

Here's a neat way to design Easter eggs with food coloring and dyes and without using real hard boiled eggs. Use Crayola Model Magic Fusion to decorate and design your own Easter eggs.

For those of you that haven't used or don't know what Crayola Model Magic Fusion is, it's a soft, easy-to-use modeling material that lets you create colorful art. It's quick to dry and can be colored with paint and/or markers when dried. You can find Crayola Model Magic Fusion at most stores that sell Crayola products or online.
