Coloring Easter Eggs with Onion Skins and Rubber Bands

Coloring Easter eggs is a fun tradition for the kids come Easter time. Dyeing your Easter eggs in food coloring is the usual way to go but what about some different ideas for decorating Easter eggs.

We have already posted ideas on decorating Easter Eggs with tissue paper and decorating Easter Eggs with finger paints on the Fun 4 The Children blog. Now it's time to add a twist to dyeing you eggs as we learn how to color Easter eggs with onion skins and rubber bands.

Materials need for decorating your Easter Eggs:

Yellow onions
Raw eggs
Rubber bands
Large pot
Egg dye

Adding the oils from the yellow onion will produce a stain on your eggs and then when you add your Easter eggs to dye, as you would normally, it will produce a very neat, gilded look.
