5 Gifts That Kids Will Love That Will Teach Them Stuff Too!

5 Gifts That Kids Will Love That Will Teach Them Stuff Too! by Mike H of Find Me A Gift Ltd.

Parents love it when their children learn, and children love it when their parents buy them things. So opting for an educational present is a bit of a no brainer really isn’t it? Here are five gifts that will please mum, dad and child alike.

A Musical Instrument

What kid doesn’t like playing with musical instruments? Sure it might take them a bit of time to master the violin, but the earlier you start them off the better they’re likely to become.

Being able to play a musical instrument is of course a wonderful skill but what makes one an even better gift is the fact that your child will be able to grow socially and make new friends. As the ‘great’ Madonna once said ‘Music makes the people come together’ and this is something that’s true whether you’re 2 or 102.

Jigsaw Puzzles

You might be wondering what your child can learn from a jigsaw puzzle. Well it can help their problem solving skills develop, and if they’re really young it will do wonders for their hand-eye coordination.

The best thing about jigsaws is that there’s a virtually endless number to choose from. So whether you’re shopping for a 4 year old girl who likes fairies, or a 12 year old boy who likes aliens you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for with ease.

A Plant

Your child may have asked for a puppy or a pony, but trust me, a plant is a much safer (and cheaper) alternative. It will teach them what it is to have responsibility and the importance of routine. Plus nobody’s going to feel too guilty if they forger to water it. Can you really say the same with a dog?

Science Kits

I don’t care what anyone else says science kits are great fun for kids. If you were always a bit disappointed to wake up to a chemistry set on Christmas day you’ll be pleased to know that the offering in the modern world is a little more inspiring.

Some kits will help your kids turn potatoes into clocks whereas others will teach them the techniques used by real-life forensics experts to catch some of the most dangerous criminals. That hardly sounds boring to me.

An Educational Video Game

If there’s one thing kids love, it’s video games. But if you think allowing your child to play on a console will turn them into an overly aggressive sociopath don’t worry, because not all games are violent gun fests.

The Professor Layton series, for Nintendo DS, is both educational and wonderfully entertaining. Each game sets a series of puzzles and mysteries that the user must solve. Your child will be stretching their brain and developing their memory without even realising it.
