Groundhog Day Coloring Pages

Groundhog Day is a holiday celebrated in United States and Canada on February 2. If a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and fails to see its shadow because the weather is cloudy, winter will soon end. If on the other hand, it is sunny and the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for 6 more weeks.

Inkheart Activity Book

With Inkheart hitting theaters nationwide on January 23, 2009 it seems everywhere I look there is mention of this movie (I really hope it's as good as all the promotion.

Anyway... I found a free activity book that you can download and print out.

The Inkheart Activity Book contains seven pages and includes: crossword puzzles, hidden message game, connect the dots, capture capricorn, maze, word search, which is different and design a butterfly.

An answer key is also provided, along with a fill in the blank story by 1-800-Dentist.

Inkheart

Cornelia Funke's bestselling book Inkheart is now a feature film starring the wonderful Brendan Frasier. Our family has read Inkheart many times and are big fans of it as well as the other two books in the Inkworld trilogy, Inkspell and InkDeath. We are excited to know that a movie version has been released.

Inkheart is the first book in the Inkworld trilogy and follows a 12 year old girl named Meggie and her father Mo. Mo, has the ability to read characters and other things out of books. But, this ability is a curse, for when someone comes out of a book, someone else from our world goes into the book, and this, Meggie learns, is how she lost her mother many years ago.

Mo accidentally releases Capricorn, the evil villain from the Inkheart book and the adventure begins.

Jitterbug - Independent Music for Kids

"Jitterbug.tv Announces the Launch of a New Website Featuring Independent Music for Kids.

Jitterbug.tv features artists making children’s music and music videos that both kids and parents enjoy. Jitterbug offers free, hand-picked music and videos chosen with the hip kid and parent in mind."

I've recently had the pleasure to explore a new website called Jitterburg, the world's first dedicated online kid's music video website.

Founded by two dads, Randall Green and Dan Gellert, Jitterbug provides an alternative to surfing larger video and music sites in search of music.

Very easy navigation provides a music video search by category and artist. The site is free to use for both artist and families with registered users having the options of giving a star rating to music and videos, emailing friends about music they like, saving their “favorite” list and the choice to share their "favorite" list with other jitterbug users.

With plenty of new videos being added all the time, Jitterburg is a wonderful place for kids and parents to discover cool, independent music online.
