Learn how to make a homemade Valentine's gift, for your child to give to their friends, in this third video of the Valentine's Day crafts with kids series. This craft is called a "Warm Fuzzy".
Materials needed for Make a Homemade Valentine for Kids:
Construction Paper for the Heart cut out (stencil or freehand)
Scissors (safety for small kids)
Pom-Pom (small and large)
Elmer's Glue
Beady eyes
Pipe cleaner
Magic Marker
Most of the materials listed in the Valentine's Day crafts with kids video series can be purchased at your local crafts stores.
For the heart cut out, you can draw one by freehand or make a stencil out of cardboard. Making the stencil is the better way to go, as it will be used in other videos in this series and is wonderful for future crafts. You can always look in your craft store for heart stencils.
How can we be creative when making our "Warm Fuzzy"? Here were some of our ideas while making this craft:
Use different color pom-poms and construction paper.
Substitute eyes from glitter glue instead of the beady eyes.
Glue small Valentine candy hearts on the construction paper instead of the writing.
Use fake plastic roses for the antennas.
Make a "Warm Fuzzy" family. Make three of the above "Warm Fuzzy" crafts, take an ice cream stick and color both sides, then glue across the back of the "Fuzzies" horizontally.
Your child's imagination is the limit. Be sure to share any ideas you have!
